In Case You Missed It!

This past weekend in Third Format we did things a little bit different. We continued in our Ephesians series as Jeremy read from Ephesians 4:1-16 and talked about the importance of unity. Jeremy talked about how we are all created differently and all were given different gifts from God. Jeremy summed it all up with this statement, "In Christ, unity comes through diversity, not uniformity!"

This was a special weekend as we were blessed by the music of JJ Heller. JJ and her husband Dave lead all of the worship at our Campo Verede campus and shared a few songs Sunday night. Please check out and support our friend JJ Heller by clicking here. Check out this video of JJ singing her hit "Your Hands."

Sunday night at the Gilbert campus, to illustrate unity, the 3F band, joined by some friends, performed the song Marchin' On by One Republic. Check out the song here.

Monday Recap - How Big Is Your God?

If you made it to Third Format this past weekend, there is a pretty good chance you had ants in your pants! As we continued in our Ephesians series, Jeremy discussed Ephesians 3:14-21 and asked us the question "How Big Is Your God." Jeremy talked about how Paul wrote this letter trying process the enormity of God leaving Paul with the conclusion that God is so big that He can do immeasurably more than anything we can ask or imagine. This is where the ants come into play. Everyone this weekend was handed a couple of ants when they first arrived without be told why. When Jeremy began to wrap up his message, he explained how ants are so small but they can lift up to 50x their body weight. This would be like us lift close to 7,000lbs. Then he raised this question, "If an ant can do something this impressive, that what do you think God is capable of?" How Big Is Your God?

Here is a clip that Jeremy used in his message to give you a grasp of how small we are and how big God is.

Monday Recap

Previously at Third Format.......

I hope you had a chance to make it out to Third Format this past weekend as it was a little different. Well as in weekends prior, we continued in our Ephesians series as Jeremy discussed Ephesians 3:1-13. Jeremy talked about the mystery of Christ and how we are included in this mystery and that God's grace hasn't just saved us from something, but for something. What an amazing thing that God has a plan for us! Jeremy also talked about transformation in is his message, and to illustrate this, we at 3F did something that I think has never before been done in church, we had someone sitting on stage who got their hair cut and styled during the message. Talk about a physical form of transformation.

Also worship was a little bit different as we had a guest DJ spinning on the 1's and 2's during our set. It created a whole new atmosphere during worship, and it sounded pretty awesome. Here is the set list from this past weekend.

1. What a Miracle by the David Crowder Band
2. Happy Day by Tim Hughes
3. O Praise Him by the David Crowder Band
4. Thank You For Hearing Me by the David Crowder Band
5. The Second Alive by Charlie Hall

In speaking about mystery, one can't help but to think about the best T.V. show ever created, and by that I mean, LOST. This show is full of mystery and that is what keeps people tuning in week after week. This however, is the final season to where we are promised answers to our questions. Now if you are a LOST fan, 1. You are Awesome and 2. click here to read an amazing blog where the author tries to figure out the mystery of each weeks episode of Lost, and points out all of the hidden theological under linings of that episode because there is a lot of theology hidden in LOST.

Monday Recap

This past weekend in Third Format we continued in our Ephesians series as Jeremy reemphasized the point that we are God's masterpiece and that we are His temple. Jeremy also talked about how we can set ourselves apart from other people, which is not always a healthy thing. We learned that we are ALL members of God's household and that God has destroyed the barrier between people as stated in the main passage from Sundays sermon Ephesians 2:13-22.

To illustrate the point of setting people apart Jeremy played the classic game guess who with a random person from the congregation. If you don't know about this game here is the original commercial from the 80's.

Also Chad Liston, a 3F attender, recited a poem from Shel SIlverstein called No Difference from his book Where The Sidewalk Ends.
Small as a peanut
Big as a giant,
We're all the same size
When we turn off the light.
Red black or orange,
Yellow or white
We all look the same
When we turn off the light.
So maybe the way
To make everything right
Is for God to just reach out
And turn off the light!
